Members are from a variety of backgrounds and include laity and clergy, teachers and students, researchers and scholars, archivists and historians, professionals and amateurs — anyone with an enthusiasm for church history, especially of the Episcopal Church. All are welcome to become a member.
Activities of the Historical Society include publishing an academic journal, cooperatively publishing a general interest newsletter, facilitating conferences, serving as a resource, funding grants, and being an advocate for the study of Episcopal history.
