Promoting preservation of the history of the Episcopal and Anglican Church

The Historical Society of the Episcopal Church strives to fulfill three objectives:

  1. promote preservation of the history of the Episcopal Church and its Anglican heritage.
  2. publish to support the first objective, especially a peer-reviewed journal.
  3. cooperate with others who examine the history of the Episcopal Church and churches of the Anglican Communion to encourage research, writing and education.

The Historical Society welcomes anyone with an interest in church history, especially the history of the Episcopal Church. Members come from many backgrounds—laity and clergy, teachers and students, researchers and scholars, archivists and historians, professionals and amateurs alike. All are welcome to join.

Activities include publishing an academic journal, cooperatively publishing a general interest newsletter, facilitating conferences, serving as a resource, funding grants, and being an advocate for the study of Episcopal history.
